Renovation works have commenced at Mbarara High Court and the Chief Magistrates’ Court in a move aimed at improving court infrastructure and creating a better working environment for judicial staff and court users.
The six-month project will include tiling, painting, roofing, rehabilitation of the sewerage system, landscaping and other improvements aimed at giving the court premises a modern facelift.
Mbarara Chief Magistrate Moses Nabende Mushebebe welcomed the development, applauding the Judiciary Administration for securing funds to undertake the long-awaited renovation project.
He said the facelift will address structural challenges that have affected the efficiency of service delivery at the courts for several years.
“These renovations will create a more conducive environment for the administration of justice. We are grateful to the Judiciary for responding to our needs,” Nabende said.
Nabende, however, appealed to court users and the general public to remain patient during the renovation period, noting that some inconveniences are expected as construction works continue.
He assured court users that operations will continue throughout the renovation period, with management putting in place measures to minimise disruptions.
The upgrade is part of the Judiciary’s broader plan to modernise court infrastructure across the country and improve access to justice through better working facilities.
